Description
A non-invasive breath test that shows whether there is an active Helicobacter pylori infection in the stomach — a bacterium linked to gastritis and ulcers. Used for diagnosis and for follow-up after treatment.
When to Take This Test
- Stomach pain, heaviness, or heartburn
- Diagnosing Helicobacter pylori
- Follow-up after treatment, as directed by your doctor
Preparation
- Fasting, at least 6 hours without food
- No antibiotics for 4 weeks and no acid-reducing medication for 2 weeks beforehand (check with your doctor)
- No smoking before the test
