Description
A basic blood test that nearly every diagnostic work-up starts with. It shows hemoglobin, red blood cells, white blood cells with differential, platelets, and ESR — that is, the state of blood formation, and whether there's inflammation, anemia, or an allergic reaction.
When to Take This Test
- Preventive checkup once a year
- Weakness, fatigue, pale skin, dizziness
- Suspected infection or inflammation
- Monitoring during and after treatment
Preparation
- Morning, fasting is best (8–12 hours without food, water is fine)
- Avoid heavy, fatty food and alcohol the day before
- No smoking or stress for 30 minutes beforehand
