Description
The main marker of prostate health in men. Used for early detection of prostate conditions, including cancer prevention.
When to Take This Test
- Men over 45–50 — as a preventive measure
- Difficulty or frequent urination
- Family history of prostate disease
- Monitoring as directed by a urologist
Preparation
- Abstain from ejaculation for 2–3 days beforehand
- Don't test right after a prostate massage, ultrasound, or cystoscopy (wait 1–2 weeks)
- Morning, on an empty stomach
