Description
aPTT is a basic blood clotting measure. It evaluates one of the clotting pathways and is used to monitor heparin therapy.
When to Take This Test
- Assessing blood clotting (coagulation panel)
- Before surgery, during pregnancy
- Monitoring a tendency toward clots or bleeding
Preparation
- On an empty stomach, 8–12 hours
- Tell your doctor if you take blood-thinning medication
