Platelet Aggregation with ADP

Description

Assesses how well platelets clump together (aggregate) in response to ADP — this shows how the platelet part of clotting is working. It helps find the cause of bleeding tendencies and monitor antiplatelet therapy (aspirin, clopidogrel).

When to Take This Test

• Tendency toward bleeding, bruising
• Monitoring antiplatelet therapy (aspirin, clopidogrel)
• Pre-surgery workup — as directed by your doctor

Preparation

• In the morning on an empty stomach (8–12 hours without food, water is fine)
• Discuss any antiplatelet medication with your doctor beforehand
• No smoking or stress for 30 minutes before the test
