Microscopy of eyelashes or a skin scraping to look for Demodex mites. Helps find out whether itching, redness, and inflammation of the eyelids or facial skin are linked to these mites.
When to Take This Test
- Itchy, red, or inflamed eyelids
- Rash, redness, and itching on the face
- As directed by an ophthalmologist/dermatologist
Preparation
- No cosmetics or creams on the area to be tested for a day beforehand
- Sample collection is done by a healthcare worker
