Description
An extended PCR analysis of vaginal microflora. Assesses the balance between beneficial lactobacilli and opportunistic microorganisms and helps identify microflora imbalances.
When to Take This Test
- Discharge, itching, discomfort
- Recurrent infections, yeast infections
- Planning pregnancy, as directed by a gynecologist
Preparation
- Don't urinate for 1.5–2 hours before the swab
- Women — not during menstruation
- No vaginal suppositories, douching, or sexual contact for 1–2 days beforehand
