When to Take This Test
- Unexplained fatigue, weakness, hair loss
- Screening and diagnosing iron deficiency
- Monitoring progress during anemia treatment
Preparation
- In the morning on an empty stomach (water is fine)
- Stop taking iron supplements 72 hours beforehand
- No alcohol the day before, no smoking for 30 minutes beforehand
