Glucose Tolerance Test (2 samples)

Description

An oral glucose tolerance test: blood sugar is measured fasting and after drinking a glucose solution (2 samples). It detects hidden carbohydrate metabolism disorders and prediabetes.

When to Take This Test

• Screening for prediabetes and diabetes
• Gestational diabetes (as directed)
• Excess weight, family history of diabetes

Preparation

• Strictly on an empty stomach, 8–14 hours without food
• Eat normally for 3 days before the test
• Sit quietly during the test (1–2 hours), without eating or smoking
