Description
Shows what share of red blood cell membranes is made up of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), and whether your body gets enough of them. These fats matter for the heart, blood vessels, and brain.
When to Take This Test
- Rarely eating oily fish or seafood
- Monitoring while taking omega-3 supplements
- Heart disease prevention, as directed by your doctor
Preparation
- In the morning on an empty stomach, 8–12 hours without food (water is fine)
- Avoid fatty food and alcohol the day before
