Description
A PCR assessment of the makeup of the large intestine's microflora based on a stool sample. Shows the balance of beneficial and opportunistic bacteria and helps identify microflora imbalance (dysbiosis).
When to Take This Test
- Bloating, diarrhea or constipation, abdominal pain
- After a course of antibiotics
- As directed by a gastroenterologist
Preparation
- Collect a fresh stool sample in a sterile container
- Don't take the test after an enema, barium X-ray, or laxatives
