Description
PCR detection of human papillomavirus types 16 and 18 — the most cancer-causing types. An important test for preventing cervical cancer in women.
When to Take This Test
- Cervical cancer screening
- Abnormal cytology (Pap smear) results
- Prevention as recommended by a gynecologist
Preparation
- Women — not during menstruation
- No vaginal suppositories, douching, or sexual contact for 2–3 days beforehand
- Don't urinate for 1.5–2 hours before the swab
